Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed if you're a private client or using NDIS funding. DVA clients can access support via a D904 referral from their GP or rehab consultant.
Where do sessions take place?
We offer in-home, community-based, online, phone, and in-clinic appointments — whatever works best for you.
Are you a veteran or first responder?
Yes — Josh Surgenor is a RAAF veteran, paramedic, and qualified social worker. Mindful Mates is grounded in lived experience.
What support do you provide?
Psychosocial support, counselling, recovery planning, group programs, NDIS and WorkCover services, and trauma-informed care.
Can I use my NDIS funding?
Yes, if you're self-managed or plan-managed. We bill under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living.
How do I access services through DVA?
Ask your GP or rehab consultant to submit a D904 form requesting social work services. We’ll help guide the process if needed.
Are your services confidential?
Yes. Sessions are fully confidential unless safety or legal risks require disclosure. We follow AASW professional standards.
Do you offer Mental Health First Aid training?
Yes — courses will launch in November 2025. Email hello@mindfulmatessocialservices.com.au to register interest.
